Take the 10 x 10 pledge! Local First of West Michigan is challenging you to shift $10 more a week for 10 weeks to local food. In the past two years they have had over 1,200 people take the pledge. This year they are hoping to get at least 1,500 participants – which is over $150,000 that you’re investing back into your community & local food economy! Canning season is here and it is time to make your salsa and tomato sauces! We have everything you need including regular and roma tomatoes, onions, celery, a variety of hot peppers and sweet peppers. We are thinking ahead towards fall as the kids go back to school. We have a lot of harvesting will get done in the next 3 months to get our cold storage filled up for winter. We are making plans to fill the greenhouses up with a variety of greens to enjoy during the cold winter months. September is a great month because we are able to enjoy many summer favorites along with a variety of fall produce. Fall squash is starting and we are harvesting spaghetti squash and amber cup squash. Brussel Sprouts, cabbage and broccoli are available. Cauliflower will be coming soon!
