• 3 c. hot cooked rice
  • 6 c. chopped, cooked broccoli
  • ¼ c. butter
  • 1 c. chopped onion
  • 3 T. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • ¼ tsp. pepper
  • 3 c. milk
  • 3 c. cubed cooked ham
  • ½ lb sliced American cheese


Spoon cooked rice into a buttered 9 by 13 pan.  Drain broccoli and place in a single layer over rice.  Melt butter and sauté onion until soft.  Stir in flour, salt and pepper.  Add milk and stir until sauce thickens and boils, 3 minutes.  Stir in ham.  Heat though then pour over broccoli.  Place cheese slices on top.  Top with buttered bread crumbs if desired.  Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
