Summer 2014 CSA information is now available!

Summer CSA Dates:

Produce and Eggs: You can choose one of two options for the summer program. You can sign up in 7 week sessions or sign up for the full program which is 21 weeks long.  The produce and eggs are delivered every week.   **You will receive a jar of honey if you sign up for the full 21 weeks of produce by May 1, 2014

  • Full Summer Program:  Week of June 9 – October 27, 2014.
  • Short Session # 1: Week of June 9 – July 21, 2014.
  • Short Session # 2: Week of July 28 – September 8, 2014.
  • Short Session # 3: Week of September 15 – October 27, 2014.

Beef/Pork: You can choose one of two options for the summer program. You can sign up for the summer in sessions or sign up for the full program which is 5 months long. **The meat share is a monthly pick up on the second full week of each month.

  • Full Summer Program: Week of June 9, 2014 – Week of October 14, 2014 (5 deliveries – Weeks of:  6/9/14, 7/15/14, 8/12/14, 9/16/14, 10/14/14.)
  • Short Session #1: There are 2 pickups for short session # 1.  The pickup will be the week of 6/9/14 and 7/15/14.
  • Short Session #2: There is 1 pickup for short session # 2.  The pickup will be the week of 8/12/14.
  • Short Session #3: There are 2 pickups for short session # 3.  The pickup will be the week of 9/15/14 and 10/14/14.
  • Chicken shares will also be available.  Check back soon for details!

Several Pick-up locations are available:

  • Muskegon: At the Muskegon Farmers Market on Tuesday’s from 9am – 12pm.
  • Grand Haven: At NOCH on Tuesday’s from 3:00pm – 4:15pm.
  • Spring Lake: At Seven Step’s Up on Tuesday’s from 5pm- 6:30pm.
  • Holland: At our Farm on Holland’s north side on Wednesday’s from 4pm – 6:30pm.
  • Kalamazoo: At the Kalamazoo Bank Street Market on Saturday’s from 9am – 12pm.
  • Other pick up locations will be available.  Check back for details!

Costs for the Summer CSA:

  • Produce – Full 21 Weeks:  Full Share – $483.00, Half Share – $315.00.
  • Produce – 7 Week Sessions: Full Share – $168.00, Half Share – $112.00.
  • EggsFull 21 Weeks: $63.00.
  • Eggs – 7 Week Sessions:  $21.00.
  • Meat – Full summer program:  Full Share – $500.00, Half Share – $260.00.
  • Meat – Session 1: Full Share $200.00 and Half Share – $104.00.
  • Meat – Session 2:  Full Share – $100.00 and Half Share – $52.00.
  • Meat – Session 3:  Full Share – $200.00 and Half Share – $104.00.

Other Information:

It is hard to tell exactly what size share will feed your family. It depends on how often you plan to use the produce, how many people are in your family and how much they eat. The half shares are just over half of what is included in the full shares. We say that half shares will feed about 2 – 3 people and full shares will feed about 4 – 5 people.

There will be 8 – 10 items included in the produce box each week. Variety and quantity of produce will vary depending on the time of year, field conditions and weather. We do plan to have 1 type of fruit in the box each week. In order to give you the best variety of produce we will be working together with area farmers.  Over 40 different types of fruit and vegetables will be included thru out the 21 weeks!   To see the complete list of what could possibly be in the shares please see the Produce Calendar. **Please note that this is primarily a vegetable share and it will generally be a small serving of fruit each week.

Meat shares will include a variety of beef and pork cuts.  Meat deliveries are once per month.  The full share will include about 8lbs of beef and about 8lbs of pork each month.  Half shares will include about 4lbs of beef and about 4lbs of pork each month.  All meat is locally raised by our brother Rob.  The cows are out in the pasture and are fed corn, veggie scraps and grass from the pasture.  The pigs are fed corn and veggies scraps.  The animals are not given any growth hormones.  Beef is processed at Byron Center Meats and pork is naturally cured and processed at Devries Meats.  Both are USDA inspected facilities.  Meat will come vacuumed sealed and frozen.  Chicken shares will also be available.  Please check back for details!

A trade box is available at select drop off locations for produce shares.  You can trade 1 item in your box for 1 item in the trade box per week.

What is included in the produce boxes each week will be listed on our Facebook page and in the newsletters each week.  Please note that what is listed on facebook is typically correct, but it may change due to the field conditions.

Newsletters with recipe ideas and happenings from the farm will be emailed to the shareholders weekly.  Please make sure to add lindsey@crispcountryacres.com to your address book to ensure that you receive the emails.

No work is required by CSA Members.  We will have a CSA member farm walk some time during the summer program.
