How about that sunshine yesterday! This time of year sunny days are hard to come by and we enjoyed every minute of it! I took some time walking around the greenhouses, pictures just look better with some sun. I am going to share them with you today!
What is growing in the greenhouse right now? Alot of greens! Lettuce, Salad Mix, Chard, Kale & Spinach.
We don’t have enough light this time of year to support any crops that have blossoms. While we did do a tomato trial, it did not work great. The days are just not long enough.
Crops are more or less “hanging out” right now. We do harvest, but crops grow very, very slow. Sunny days like yesterday make a world of difference.
Once we hit late February/early March it’s like a switch flips. The day length is long enough, and we get enough sun that the plants just explode!
We are getting the greenhouse ready for tomatoes! Everything gets cleaned and then the troughs are filled with new dirt. The first group of tomatoes are looking great! They will be ready for their new home soon. Getting the greenhouse ready for them is on top of the to-do list!
Thanks for coming along on my greenhouse walk! We look forward to seeing you at the markets this week. We will have lots of greens waiting for you!
